Stop series develops the idea of analogue collage using paparazzi shots from the gossip columns of the 60s and 70s, moving the original elements into new disturbing settings. Original nocturnal or interior images build up a scenery for the characters in order to find a present projection. Cutting vintage prints, which in fact destroys the original materials, constitutes a sort of traumatic passage that assigns a new contemporary dimension to the images. The sense of estrangement and discontinuity is accentuated by the inclusion of black and white subjects in environments characterized by strong colors. The result is the creation of a fluid space-time dimension with a dreamlike and ambiguous mood.
