2006 / 2007
Series of pictures taken during the shooting of the movie “Milano Centrale – Stories from the Train Station”. The idea was filming the stories of the African people of various nationalities who gathered every day around the Central Station, forming a sort of heterogeneous community. I was fascinated by the type of social life experienced in the streets and exhibited in public spaces. But basically what keeps a community together? When it can be defined as such? I became friend with tireless Kenyan drivers, rampant Nigerian businessmen, aspiring stars of Senegalese music. In the vitality of the situations I have been able to share, I have always found an important contribution to the history of the city where I was born, a contribution that is anything but marginal or minor. Afro Milano is a tribute to a crazy spirit of togetherness and community.
